Cognitive-behavioral therapy is used for self-awareness, for skills in communication, and for better access to your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs. We look at behaviors to understand how they relate to emotions, learning how thoughts and emotions influence behaviors, and how behavioral changes can improve emotions.
I will also direct your attention to your body, to see if you can access your awareness of emotions. Sometimes the body and mind can feel disconnected, and you may either feel too much and be confused by it, or think too much and feel stuck in your thoughts. I integrate mindfulness into therapy to help increase mind-body-spirit awareness and help you reduce stress and depressive symptoms. Therapy can help integrate the mind, the body and the spirit, and lead to feelings of wholeness and well-being.
